Messier 103 is the small cluster in the top right of the image. Shown here with comet Lovejoy in March 2015. The small red patch above the comet is the Dolphin nebula. I’m not sure how Charles Messier missed the much brighter and bigger Owl Cluster, bottom left!

Image details: Nikon D7000, Nikkor 180mm f2.8 at f2.8. 16 minutes (32 x 30 seconds) at iso 800 using didymium filter, plus 2 minutes (4 x 30 seconds) at iso 800 using . Stacked with Deep Sky Stacker and tracked with barn door tracker.

Noctilove is a website devoted to low light photography and astrophotography with a barn door tracker. All of the images on this website were taken without a telescope. Just a regular DSLR and lens. You'll find images of comets, meteors, galaxies and nebulae, as well as night landscapes, Aurora, noctilucent clouds, and lightning. Almost all images on the noctilove website were taken from a light polluted area of England at sea level. Far from perfect conditions! To build up the detail and to reduce noise, images have been 'stacked' with Deep Sky Stacker and processed with Photoshop to make them as pretty as possible.
